Lady Raiders v. Baylor Basketball Game

                        WEDNESDAY, 1/18/12, 6:15 p.m.

Singers should be dropped off in CONCERT DRESS uniform at the North Pass-Out Gate of the United Spirit Arena at 6:15 p.m.  This gate is at parking lot level.  Please note that the north parking lot is reserved for athletic pass holders, and WILL NOT be available for WTCC parent parking and drop off.  WTCC staff will be waiting to receive singers outside the gate.

Parents will not be allowed into the gate with the singers; those wishing to attend the game may purchase tickets at a discounted rate through the Texas Tech Athletics Group Sales Office: (806)742-8311.  If your child will not be staying to watch the basketball game, you may pick him or her up at the SOUTHWEST ENTRANCE of the arena at 7:30 pm.  Please let WTCC staff know your child will be picked up early when he or she is dropped off.   At the end of the game, singers will meet parents at the southwest entrance of the United Spirit Arena.

Preparatory singers will not be performing at this event, but are welcome to attend as part of the group and should follow the above instructions for drop off and uniform.

                        Parade Update!

                        WHEN: 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Terrace Shopping Center on 34th, across from Coronado HS. We are tenatively placed at #15 (right behind walking student groups from Evans, and just ahead of Rickey's Auto Repair's train.) When you arrive, the floats will be lined up in order, so look for #15. We should be right in the middle.)There will also be a check-in tent where someone can direct you to the float, and the men who have on red jackets with silver badges and black cowboy hats are called the Wranglers, and they can guide you, as well.

PICK-UP: The parade technically goes all the way to Boston, but they've asked groups to drop off along the way. So, we will turn off and drop off in the parking lot of Forrest Heights UMC. The parade may last until around 8:00 p.m., but PLEASE be available from about 7:30 ON to meet the kids. Please don't keep us all waiting in the cold to pick up your singers :) There may be parade-watchers' cars in the lot, but we will keep our kids in the float until you come and find them.

ATTIRE: We REALLY want to show our group identity to the community, so we have asked the kids to bundle up UNDER the hoodies as much as possible. However, we MAY need to wear coats OVER the hoodies, at least for some of the time. Will you please help us by making sure that the coats are either RED or BLACK? (We certainly don't want you to BUY new coats, but if you can beg or borrow coats that will help us remain in the color scheme, we'd REALLY appreciate it. Pink snowflakes jackets are cute, but for this occasion, we are going for a visual of RED, BLACK and DENIM.) We have scarves and cowboy hats, but they'll want gloves, ear-warmers, hand-warmers for pockets, etc.

Thank you, parents! This is a new event for us, and we hope it will be great fun for the kids. We appreciate your support as we take advantage of opportunities to get our fabulous singers out into the community!

PS MANY THANKS to Amy Hanson and her team of parent volunteers who have provided materials and man-power for the float. If you can help with construction, the team is meeting at noon tomorrow at Vaughn Storage on West 19th. And of course, we hope that many of you will join us for a power walk alongside the float, down 34th street. We're going for "western warm" attire (and comfy walking shoes!)

                        See you tomorrow!
